WESTFIELD
Westfield is a brand owned by Bulova; the Westfield brand was purchased in the 1930s. Since 1931, the published annual report listed Westfield Watch Company, Inc. as a Bulova subsidiary. Also, “Bulova trademarked the Westfield name in 1927 and reported first use of the name in 1917.”
After Bulova purchased the brand, the Westfield watches were assembled in the U.S. with U.S. made cases and Bulova Switzerland movements, they are generally of quite high quality.
Westfield watches from the 1920s and beyond are Bulova-made and they were produced at least through the late 1950s. We probably can associate the end of Westfield watches with the introduction of Caravelle line in the early 1960s. Likewise, it’s known that Bulova trademark of the Westfield name was reported as cancelled in 1989.
The best explanation is that the Westfields provided a lower cost option for Bulova watches. While the Westfields watches are fine and attractive, the movements typically had lower jewel counts than mainstream Bulovas. That didn't mean they were unreliable or “junk watches”, in fact, quite the opposite. Many Westfield watches have survived to this day in good and running condition. “Westfield adopted the ‘standardized’ parts for their movements made famous by the Bulova Watch Company.”

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
